A Beautification of Ganesha Stairs

Under Community Service Development Program, ITB has contributed to the development of Ganesha Stairs. This project had been proposed by a team led by Prabu Wardono, Interior Design Lecturer with some members including Patriot Mukmin, Fine Art study program lecturer and his students to respond to the fact that it did not look good enough for people to pass. Therefore, the PKM team proposed a design approach, “beautification”, to improve its quality. To implement that, we referred to Indonesian ocean biodiversity to become a visual reference for SD Plesiran students to visualize it by drawing according to their imagination. In the design execution, coral stones were used for covering the horizontal surface of the stairs, and ceramic mosaic technique were applied for covering the stair risers. This project was scheduled to finish in November 2018, and hope that this newly developed Ganesha stairs would have a positive impact to the people living around, the Bandung zoo visitors, and others to love it ever after.
